  4.      Instructions for Installing WNIGHT, the Windows Retrieval System
  5.  
  6.    These instructions explain how you may install WNIGHT, Night Owl's
  7.    supurb Windows based CD-ROM file retrieval system.  You must have
  8.    Windows 3.1 or later and the installation requires approximately
  9.    2 megabytes of free disk space for the program files and data base.

  11.    Steps to install WNIGHT:

  13.        1. Start Windows.
  14.  
  15.        2. Make the Program Manager active.
  16.  
  17.        3. Select "File" from the Program Manager top menu.
  18.  
  19.        4. Select "Run" from the Program Manager "File" menu.
  20.  
  21.        5. Enter the command "X:\NIGHT\SETUP.EXE" into the command line
  22.           entry box, where X is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.  For
  23.           example, suppose the drive letter for the CD-ROM where you have
  24.           placed the Night Owl CD is drive F.  Enter the command
  25.           "F:\NIGHT\SETUP.EXE".

  27.        6. Press <Enter> or click on the <Ok> button to start the Night Owl
  28.           Windows install program.
  29.  
  30.        7. Use the "Select" button to select or create a directory for the
  31.           night owl files.  It is strongly recommended that you use
  32.           X:\NIGHT, where X is the drive of your choice.
  33.  
  34.        8. Click on the "Install" to start the installation.  After the
  35.           appropriate files have been copied from the CD to your hard
  36.           drive, a Night Owl program group will be automatically created
  37.           for you.

  39.    Note:

  41.        SETUP.EXE must be executed from your Night Owl CD-ROM or it will
  42.        not function.

  44.        Night Owl may be installed manually.  To do so, follow these steps:

  46.        1. Create the following directory structure:
  47.  
  48.              X:\NIGHT
  49.              X:\NIGHT\TEXT?? (where ?? is the release number)
  50.              X:\NIGHT\WORK
  51.              X:\NIGHT\UNZIP
  52.  
  53.        2. Copy SETUP.EXE, WNIGHT.HLP, WNIGHT.INI, & SKY16V3B.DLL to
  54.           X:\NIGHT.
  55.  
  56.        3. Rename SETUP.EXE to WNIGHT.EXE.
  57.  
  58.        4. Copy all the files in R:\NIGHT\TEXT to X:\NIGHT\TEXT19, where
  59.           R is the CD-ROM drive and X is the hard drive.

  61.        5. Edit the sample WNIGHT.INI so that the entris reflect the
  62.           proper drive designators.
